Dominion of Storms Campaign

For those of you from our local gamer store here in HK:

I have put up a sector map and it's consisting sub-sectors. The idea behind this is to give all our 40K battles a framework and some form of fluff background. Below is a brief overview of how it works:

There are no teams or sides as such. Each person can use as few or as many armies as they own in the campaign.

There are no turns. Battles take place as often as you like. If you come down and fight 5 battles in one week with an army and someone else only fights once in one month then all it will show is that one army is more active in the sector than the other. But no penalty is applied to people playing infrequently.

Whoever wins the initial dice roll to determine who deploys first is considered the 'attacker'. This person or persons can then decided on the sector map where the battle is being fought. There are no restrictions to where you can fight a battle. Only that you cannot chose a system that already as a battle fought there (unless it was one of your own that is and you're attempting to recapture the planet).

This allows for armies to potentially be either clustered in one area or scattered throughout the sector. Neither is better or worse than the other.

Once one army has achieved 5 wins they count as having an increased presence in the sector and therefore now have a 'fleet'. A fleet allows you to attack other armies fleets but equally allows your army to be attacked.

There is a loosely set win condition. A person can 'win' by destroying 3 enemy fleets. However, it is up to the players' discretion what is required to destroy a fleet. Personally I see it as running an entire 'Planetstrike' campaign, interspersed with the 3 army specific missions from the 'Battle Missions' book. Thereby making it a realistic campaign to destroy an enemies stronghold. However, you are also entitled to make it as easy as you like for your opponent to take you out, but I wouldn't encourage that option...

If a fleet is destroyed that army can no longer 'win' the campaign. However, it does not mean that you are 'out' of the campaign and that the army is no longer allowed to fight. You can use the army as many times as you like it is just considered reduced in threat as it's fleet was destroyed and can no longer take on enemy fleets to achieve the win condition. Of course if you own multiple armies then your other forces can still 'win'.

It is important to note that ANY type of game can be fought in this sector campaign. You can fight Battle Fleet Gothic naval engagements anywhere you like as well as Aeronautica Imperialis, Kill Team etc... The idea as I have said before is that this is a sandbox style setup. A framework within which your games can take place and have some meaning.

If you would like your battles to use this system then please do. Just make a note of which armies fought, who won the initial deployment roll (regardless of stealing the initiative) and what the result was. Then let me know and I will update the sector map accordingly.
